This is part of a sample ceremony.
We are gathered here today for a celebration of love.Love is powerful. It is simple. Yet it is very complex.In order for love to flow between two people, four things must happen at once. Each person gives their love to the other and each is the receiver of the other’s love. Love requires us to be vulnerable to each other so that our love may flow back and forth. Through these four doors.
There are so many ways we can choose to be in a relationship with each other. It is only through love that our spirits are lifted into oneness. Loving is the only experience that enables us to see that our separation is only a condition of the physical and material level of being that our souls can soar and merge as one.
It is love that gives the deepest meaning to our lives. It is our highest calling and our greatest purpose and our finest achievement.
_______ and ______ you have made a very serious and important decision in choosing to marry each other today. You are entering into a sacred union as life partners.
As in tending the flowers in a garden, the quality of your marriage will reflect the effort you put into nurturing this relationship. You have the opportunity to go forward from this day to create a faithful, kind, and tender relationship.
We bless you this day. It is up to you to keep the blessing flowing, each and every day of your lives together. We wish for you wisdom, and compassion to create a peaceful sanctuary in which you can both grow in love.
____/_____ do you understand and accept this responsibility, and do you promise to do your very best each day to create a loving, healthy and happy marriage?
“I will”
I encourage you as families and friends To always choose love in thoughts about and interactions with _____and ______. Stand beside them, not between them. Come to them with hearts of peace, not judgments. Show them your kindness, your support, and your loving hearts.
Marriage is the essence of human relationships;
it challenges us to be as one without abandoning the truth of our individuality. It challenges us to recognize ourselves in one another and to admire and respect each other while walking side by side heading in the same direction- sometimes so close together there will be only one set of footprints. Remember that your relationship is alive and ever-changing and that your love is a miracle, always inviting you to grow, to learn, to blossom and to expand.
May your love create a safe haven for you both on the journey that lays ahead of you. Lead with your hearts and take the time to do simple things that will nurture your love.
It is your love that has brought us here today.
May it grow deeper and sweeter with each passing day, month, and year.
